Honda Motor Co. is going to cut production in the United States and Canada by 62,000 vehicles by shutting down factories for 13 days starting in May. The company is also going to reduce pay for factory workers.
The Japanese automaker on their hands offered early retirement incentives to most of its 32,400 workers in North America.

1201283750_431-puls The New York Times’s Jack Healy reported today that the first full trading week of 2009 began with a fluctuation on Wall Street. Big Stock markets problems have as auto companies posted double-digit sales declines for December and oil prices rose.
The Dow Jones industrial average decreased below 9,000 to close at 8,952.89, down 81.80 points, or 0.91 percent. However, even with Wall Street Monday’s problems, the US markets have been making incremental gains over the last month, adding to the hopes of investors that Wall Street could be turning a corner, even if the recession continues to drag on.
“It’s a different year but the same problems,” said Stuart Schweitzer, global strategist at J. P. Morgan Private Bank.

Ford weighs selling Volvo amid industry downturn

Ford Motor Co. is considering selling Volvo Car Corp. as the beleaguered U.S. automaker seeks to raise cash and weather a global automotive sales crisis.

A year and a half ago Premier Automotive Group (PAG)  unprofitableness – Ford Premium Departmen - led the American Corp to think about selling Volvo in the end of 2007. But finally the Swede brand get a luck. But not for a long time… So after 1.5 years, the clouds thicken over the Volvo again.
Ford Motor Co. is considering selling Volvo Car Corp. as the beleaguered U.S. automaker seeks to raise cash and weather a global automotive sales crisis. Official sources do not deny that the strategy for Volvo may be close to the exit strategy for the market.
